Lester Sumrall's secret for staying young (and he did even into his 80s) was that he always stayed in the middle of what God is doing. I intend to do the same!

Saturday Morning Chill

Well, it's been a minute since my last blog so I thought I would take a moment and share with you what's been going on with me lately.

Very exciting things are happening and I'm running to keep up with the marvelous vision that God has put on the inside of me for Summit Church. Wow, where do I begin? 

First of all, come join me in welcoming Wayne Starks to SC. Wayne is one of Floyd’s (our band director) recording artists under the AIO label. He comes to us from Minneapolis, Minnesota and will join our praise team. He will soon be joined by Ian Grindstaff (another AIO artist) who is coming from Decatur. They both feel a special connection to Summit and are excited to serve with us.

Next, our brand-new website is almost ready to launch, praise God! I'm so hyped! Our web developers are working overtime over the weekend to meet our launch date of Tuesday, April 27th. So I invite you to visit our website on Tuesday and check out our new digs. The new site is so timely because it will accommodate the next level of 21st century ministry that the Lord is leading us into. This week has been consumed with doing prep work for the site. It's a lot of meticulous work, but it’ll be worth it in the end.

I'm excited about continuing our series on the life and power of words in this weekend's encounters. Exciting stuff! Life is good, God is good!

Inspiration from Team Hoyt

Today I met Rick Hoyt who travels all across the country to run the marathon. The unique thing about him is that he has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. He performs in marathons with assistance from his father Dick who pushes him. He's in Boston for the Boston Marathon. I also learned that in addition to marathons he also enjoys swimming and goes cross country skiing. When he was growing up his parents were advised to put him in an institution. They refused to do it. His incredible story has been well documented and spread over the Internet. 

When I think about this story, I think about his handicap and how he does not allow that to stop him from achieving great things. He doesn't use his physical limitations as an excuse for failure.

What a great lesson to all of us. Are you using any excuses for why you can't achieve success? No matter what obstacles are standing in the way of your victory, with God's help and your determination you can win. You must throw away all the excuses and do whatever it takes to achieve greatness. Break through all the barriers and don’t let anybody convince you that you have limitations. If you are determined, you can achieve your goals and your God-given destiny. Let team Hoyt’s story inspire and motivate you to move forward with what you have in your heart to accomplish in life.

Al III, Carrie Underwood, and Father God

My son (Al) attended a Carrie Underwood concert last night. He sent out a tweet that Carrie smiled, winked, and waved directly at him. He was all excited about that.

Well, someone greater than Carrie Underwood is loving you, smiling at you, thinking of you, planning good things for you, and ever ready to: bless you, give you increase and show himself strong on your behalf. And he's your Father and His name is God. Get excited!

Psa. 115:12-15 The LORD has been mindful of us;

He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel;

He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the LORD,

Both small and great. May the LORD give you increase more and more,

You and your children. May you be blessed by the LORD,

Who made heaven and earth.  

Jer. 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper 

you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
