Goofy Commercial

Today was a cool day. I recorded a silly commercial with Floyd in the FW campus about the upcoming School of the Arts that we're planning. I'm real excited about the school. To show my commitment to promoting the school, I let Floyd talk me into acting like a "geek" in this commercial. I even trimmed my mustache to play the part. I gotta say that it was difficult to act "uncool". Floyd asked me to wear some "geeky" clothes; which I don't have. But I did the best I could. It even entertained Mary! Before leaving the Church, I intended to cut off the rest of my mustache, 'cause I cut it to look ridiculous for the shoot; but I forgot! I was with my daughter at her golf practice for a while, not realizing how I looked. Then, I went to Starbucks for a meeting and I realized, OMgosh! Next, I grabbed my handy grooming kit from the car and went into the Starbucks restroom to shave off the rest of my 'stache. I like the clean look, but my wife doesn't; so I'll let it grow back. And I even did another video shoot looking crazy and everybody there let me do it! Oh, well.

Spring Break

I'm chillin with my family on spring break. We got away for a few days and went to the Kalahari indoor water park. I'm doing some light work; planning, reading, blogging (as you can see), checkin e-mail, surfin the web - that kind of stuff. Saw a few people from Fort Wayne, that's kinda cool. We met up with our dear friends: the Forbes (from Columbus) - all except youngest two. Three of our children are the same age and they communicate on Facebook. It's good to get away. 

It's a blessing to be able to work and have fun doing it. Some people may look at me  on my laptop and think, isn't that sad that he has to work instead of enjoying himself. But I think it's sad that some people have to do all they can to enjoy themselves for two the weeks or so that they're on vacation in order to escape a job that makes them miserable the rest of the year. Anyway, I love what I do and I'm enjoying myself and enjoying family and friends enjoying themselves. Ok, the pizza should be coming any moment (they have great pizza here)!

Something my mom used to say

I thought about something that my mom used to say.
When someone would think their child was better than someone else's child, she would say:
"Every crow thinks their child is the blackest!"
Funny how you think of things your dad or mom used to say, when in a similar situation. For example, I thought of this as I was contemplating what to say (and what not to say) when the basketball coach meets with the parents.

It's a wonderful life!

Merry Christmas to all! Thank God for Jesus; His birth, death, burial, resurrection and life on the inside of us. What a wonderful life (John 10:10)!
My Christmas plans are to stay at home (where it's 74 degrees), enjoy family, eat, and make cappuccino. We had relatives over tonight. What are you going to do this Christmas day!

Here's something that I found in my files. I don't know who wrote it, but I found it to be funny with some truth to it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The TV is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
it makes me lie down on the sofa.
It leads me away from the faith.
It destroys my soul.
It leads me in the path of sex and violence for the sponsors sake.
Yea, though I walk in the shadow of Christian responsibility, there will be no interruption for the TV is with me.
Its cable and remote control, they comfort me.
It prepares a commercial for me in the presence of my worldliness.
It anoints my head with humanism and consumerism, my coveting runneth over.
Surely, laziness and ignorance shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of watching TV forever.
