First Friday

On Friday, May 2 @ 7pm we will have an event called first Friday. This first one will be sort of off-the-cuff with not a lot of planning or bells and whistles. One reason is because of the energy and resources being poured into the family conference. However, this will be fairly simple to plan.
The concept is simple. We will have a theme for the event. This first one will be a Jazz theme. The sanctuary will be set up with tables. We want to give it a jazz flavor. The posse will play. We will have popcorn and the espresso bar open. I will minister a 5 -- 10 minute inspirational message at the end. It will last approximately 2 hours; not including the mingle time at the end. We will videotape the event. Last but not least, I need the winning group leaders there to mingle with people and promote their groups. This won't be a high-pressure job, but we want to network and make connections with people, establish relationships as a bridge to connect them to groups.

Encounter Dress Code

Dress code is now officially "relaxed" for Sunday Encounters. However, as always, be sure your attire is decent and in order. But jeans are acceptable. Of course, if you just have to wear a suit, I ain't mad at ya! I want to make a statement that people don't have to wear certain kinds of clothes to come to the house of God.

Valentine Movie Night - Not!

I am canceling the Valentines Movie for tomorrow. I'm using the weather as an excuse - but to be real, I wanted to cancel it anyway. In conversation with Carla, she didn't think it would be cozy enough...whatever. She's doing her woman thing, not giving me a clear reason why she doesn't like the idea. I told her it's not the "Rave", but I thought it would be a neat idea with the big screen and some popcorn, bla, bla, bla; but the bottom line is this: she ain't feelin' it! And since she's not keen on the idea, that usually is a sign that others may be feeling the same. So, I don't want to get out in this crazy weather to host this wonderful idea of movie night and only 5 people show up and I'm ushering, running sound, and serving cappuccino. Anyway....Due to the snow and bad weather, I am canceling tomorrow's event!
