Leadership development and multiplication
A. six-month goal
1. Our goal is that in six months time, every group will develop one new leader and multiply that group.
2. This is a minimum goal. You may have six new groups by the end of that time! ("According to your faith be it unto you. ")
B. Raising up a leader in six months
1. Find them.
Spend December isolating two or three people in your group who are potential leaders. Invite them to attend a special leadership summit in January. Help them to set goals for the coming year: personally and in ministry. What is the next step will they need to take to accomplish each goal. Do the same for yourself. You may want to work on your goals right along with them.
2. Fan them.
In January, spend special times of prayer with the new leaders. Set up a time once a week where you can be alone with them and teach them how to pray using my "how to pray "book. This will "fan them," stirring up the gifts and callings within their lives.
3. Focus them.
in February, help them to set goals for their group. Help them to identify what they love to do. What are their interests? What are their gifts? What do they do best? These questions may reveal clues as to what type of group they would like to start. What would they like to see God do through them by the end of this year? Find out where there are on the winning track and start them on the next level.
4. Feed them.
In March, monitor their progress on the winning track carefully. Continue "feeding" them the weekly agenda the the winning group agenda
5. Follow them
in April, let them begin to lead your group to some degree. If they are going to multiply the "internally") take four members and start a separate meeting), let those four members began to meet together during the cell night to prepare for their departure. If they are going to multiply "externally" (open a homogeneous group of their own choosing), help them choose their type of group, help them choose a curriculum or outline if necessary, and go with them to the place, if possible, to begin to "size up" what they will need to be successful.
6. Follow-up on them
in May, your group should multiply. Try to attend their first three meetings, to help them make a smooth transition.
